Mindfulness is the human ability to be fully present, aware of where we are and what we’re doing, and not overly reactive or overwhelmed by what’s going on around us. Learning to be more mindful and live in the present moment can renew energy and clarity. And whilst it is innate, it can be cultivated through proven techniques inserted into everyday life and then further merged with other meditation practices, such as yoga. Whether you are drawn to mindfulness to relieve depression, ease stress, improve your overall health and well being, tackle illness, or achieve spiritual enlightenment these retreats are for you.
Various breathing exercises help to relax the mind, particularly taking slow, deep breaths, in and out. One of the key principles of yoga is to relax the mind just as much as the body, so practising yoga is an incredibly effective method for relaxing your mind. Keeping a journal and letting your thoughts flow onto the page has also been shown to help relax the mind. This is because you have an outlet for your emotions, which help to free your mind.
A mindfulness retreat helps you to pay attention to your feelings. Take notice of the thoughts that come into your head on a regular basis and how your body feels. It allows you to pay attention to the world around you and how it is affecting you. By doing so you can redirect your behavior to change consequences and therefor your entire life.
Don’t be afraid to try something new and breaking with your regular routine. It can help you deal with stress by creating a stress-free bubble which is easier to practice away from the chaos of everyday life. You will also learn how to focus on yourself and reconnect to yourself without digital technology constantly distracting you.
